Most of you know Monét from her amazing duet with Scarlett Pomers in the song, Call It A Day. But Monét is a rocker in her own right. When Monét isn't busy working on her debut album and fielding many major label offers, she is performing at the hottest clubs in California, including The Whiskey A-Go-Go, The Roxy, the Key Club, and many many others. Monét has even opened for teen superstar Jesse McCartney at the famous Gibson Amphitheatre in Universal City! Unlike most teen singers, who are at the mercy of their producers, Monét's vision shines through from the get-go. She wrote six of the nine tracks of her album — 2 Of Them, 18, Go, Nobody, UR Mine, and Me 4 Me. Discussing her approach to songwriting, she says, "I don't try to write about things that aren't true to who I am. 2 of Them, for instance, is about the real life experience of liking two boys at the same time. I'm just singing about how I feel about things, trying to connect with what other kids feel. When someone listens to my songs, I want them to think, 'Wow, Monét really knows what I’m going through'. I can tell you everything that happened that inspired any of my songs. They're all my real life." Monét has a perfect life philosophy that captures the whirlwind of hope and inspiration wherever she goes: "If a dream is running away, go catch it...that should go out to everyone, not just kids, but adults as well. You’re never too old to dream big." |
